I like how you remade the Malkavians.

I cried when I read it, because I know what pain even the smallest mental illness can bring. Losing the control over your own mind, even if it’s only a little bit… Too bad this condition can only be entirely understood by living it.

PS: Urg… I hope this comment doesn’t destroy the English language too much, because I’m not an English-speaking person, and I’m REALLY sleepy right now (I had to stop typing almost a full minute to remember “sleepy”). Anyway, as long as you understand what I’m trying to say…

PS2: The names I use quite often are “Oliver”, “Christopher”, “Edward”, “Franz” and “Marie”.
Oscar was the name of my fish when I was a kid. It was an Oscar (the kind of fish, I didn’t even know this back in the time) and it ate every other fishes we would put with him.
Edgar really is amusing! Maybe I’ll use it sooner or later.

The book has information on Malkavians?

I thought we’d heard the last of them in the core. The Malkovians never really interested my players, though. You know, I wasn’t at all interested in the clan books, but your notes have almost sold me (on this one at least).

A great read, this post. Well written, funny, and touching.

(To those who think that Malkavia belittles or makes light of mental illness, I can only say this: I’m mentally ill and I’m not offended.)

I think that’s one reason I’ve been leery of people playing the insane. I also have to deal with a mental illness, and watching people play crazy like it is a fun thing that gives you the excuse to ‘do what you want’ pisses me off. When it is dealt with intelligently, and shows the trouble and pain it can cause (both to yourself and to those you care for), and when I feel it is given the respect it is due, I become impressed.

I’m waiting for my copy of the Ventrue book, but your section on the Malkavians makes me even more interested in getting it. I hope things have improved for you, in the mean time.
